Prevention, Emergency Response, and the Comox Fire Training Centre

Comox Fire Rescue provides a variety of preventive and emergency services to a population of over 18,000 in an area of 16 square miles. This includes the Town of Comox, the Comox Fire Protection Improvement District, the Bates Huband Local Service Area (Regional District of Comox-Strathcona), and the Comox Indian Band. They also operate the Comox Fire Training Centre, which trains firefighters from all over Vancouver Island, and even parts of BC and the rest of Canada. The training centre is certified by the JIBC.

Town of Comox ~ Stage 3 Water Restrictions

Stage 3 Water Restrictions for The Town of Comox and Comox Valley Regional District are now in place from Sept. 1 to 28th.

During Stage 3 Water Restrictions, no lawn water is permitted, as well the following:

During Stage 3 Water Restrictions, No person shall:

  • Water a lawn or boulevard;
  • Fill or add water to a swimming pool, hot tub or garden pond;
  • Fill or add water to or operate a decorative fountain at any time; or
  • Wash a vehicle or a boat with water.

Comox Fire Rescue has also been working hard over many years to reduce its water consumption during training and during day to day operations.

In 2016, Comox Fire Rescue installed a Water Recover System. This system has saved an estimated 5 million litres of drinking water during this time.
