Over 600 students have attended our firefighter youth camp programs over the past 20 years.
Comox Fire Rescue manages two different Firefighter Youth Programs (Firefighter Youth Camp and Firefighter Youth Semester Program). Chief Schreiner states: “We are so pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with many of the great youths in our community. These programs require a huge commitment by our outstanding group of firefighters. Without their assistance this would not be possible. We are also very fortunate to have great community support from many local businesses.”
Firefighter Youth Semester Program
Following the school district semester schedule we also manage two semester programs each year for Comox Valley high school students. The semester based program is very similar to our camps except that they are stretched out over a school semester rather that delivered in five intense days like our camps. The goal of this camp is to provide significant learning and life experience and provide skills and attitudes that can be applied now and later in life.
2024 Schedule
All sessions are on Thursday evenings from 7-9 pm. You are expected to be in turnout gear and ready to go by 7pm. Please ensure that you make an effort to clear these dates of work and other responsibilities as attendance is obviously very important. Remember, your instructors are there on a voluntary basis for every session.
